My personal story isn't very long. I was born, went to school, worked, labored until I finally got something done online.. However, there were some traumatic moments, when everything seemed lost forever. One of these was when my computer in my home suddenly stopped functioning. But, after some tinkering and moving my old hard drive to the new one and installing a new computer, I was able restore all the work stored on the drive. It took 3 days of sweating, figuratively crying... I've learned one thing. To automatically or manually backup my day's work using Dropbox and my personal ftp servers so nothing can ever be deleted. It's not the ideal solution. The larger your online data storage becomes the more you will must pay to maintain all of it, and keep it up and running. It's simple to use and it seems to be very secure. And it's of course very accessible and can be downloaded from any location that has internet access. But what happens when the internet is not available? Those times I am happy having my laptop on my, it's like my last safe place to backup my data. Two drives are on my computer that each have a RAID stack. They copy each others and ensure that there is at least one copy in case one of the HDDs is destroyed. Since I don't copy a lot the laptop doesn't work very often. This is the reason I'm hoping that neither of the drives go out simultaneously. https://controlc.com/ff45d3d5 Another day of immense sadness occurred just a few weeks back. I take care not to lose work. As I mentioned above, I now have multiple copies of it and have access to it wherever internet is available. This was not about Periscope. I used it a lot several years ago and this past summer 2020 during riots I was able to participate in some live streams.. And all of suddenly Periscope TV is closing, and all videos will be gone in a few weeks time. What should I do next? I need all the videos downloaded , so they are able to be saved offline on my laptop. They are extremely important to me, it's the last time I've hung with my friend who disappeared from the radars during Covid It is it possible that it ruined his life..I visit his website and can download video directly from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and other sources. I am into politics and underground movements, so I film a lot of live events, then save them for future use, publish some on my YouTube? channel, and each time live ends, I save it up into my laptop. This is how I do it. It allows me to cross-post videos to multiple platforms. Not only can I share YouTube? videos on Facebook and Twitter, but I can also upload that video directly to Facebook. It's a separate video. So, over the last eight years, I've got 3TB worth of live feeds. Periscope Lives will not go away.. It's been very helpful to me a lot. http://b3.zcubes.com/v.aspx?mid=7702567 It's a breeze. If I view the video I would like to download on Periscope, Youtube or Facebook and copy the URL using the share link. Then, I go to the website for video downloads then copy the URL and click the button. In just a few minutes, I am presented with a variety of choices to download the video. Periscope isn't available on every website.<img width="340" src="https://image.winudf.com/v2/image1/Y29tLm1sZHNueHd3LnNzeHhjdmJuX3NjcmVlbl8wXzE1NTIyMjQ0MDJfMDM3/screen-0.jpg?h=355&amp;fakeurl=1&amp;type=.jpg"> http://waiterjump0.jigsy.com/entries/general/-When-I-was-in-hostile-territory-I-did-not-have-Internet-access-to-access-my-presentation-How-did-I-fix-the-issue%0A Windows copy is a method to merge these fragments into one single file. This is due to MpegTS, the video format that is used to break the video into fragments. Also called transport stream. The video format used for the fragments is called Mpeg TS. It allows new users to stream in the middle of the stream with no interruption. In addition, it allows browsers to save transfers of data, as instead of one hour of data, it downloads 360 x 10 second files, and only downloads those that you're watching. Thus, even if you watch only 25 seconds of the stream the player downloads just 4-6 fragments (it receives 3-4 fragments from the current 25 seconds stretch as well as 1-2 fragments following, in case you continue watching the stream). This means you can save a lot of data by downloading just 25 seconds of stream video.
