My story isn't a big one. I was born, attended school, worked, then finally found an internet connection. But, it also includes some devastating moments where I thought that my life was over. One of those instances was when my laptop computer at home stopped responding. After a bit of fiddling, changing my old desktop into the new one, and more fiddling around I was eventually capable of restoring the entire work that was stored on the drive. It took me three days of sweating and figuratively tears... You will have to pay more to maintain your online data store. It's very simple and secure. It is also easily accessible and downloadable from anywhere that has internet connectivity. But what about times that WiFi? or an internet connection is not available? I love keeping my laptop close to me during those times. It is my last protection against data loss. There are two drives on it and one for each HDD. This lets them copy one another and assures that one copy will remain in case of failure. Since I copy a lot of my data there, it's rare that my laptop will work. I do not want two drives to fail on the same day.Another sad day occurred a few months ago. I'm very careful not to lose my work. Like I said I've now copied the entire document many times and am able to access it whenever the internet is. This was Periscope. I have used it quite a few years back as well as this summer, during the riots in 2020, I was able to participate in some live streams.. All of suddenly Periscope TV is closing, and all the videos will disappear in just few weeks time. What do I do? All the videos need to be downloaded to my laptop to be saved offline. These videos are extremely dear to my heart as they were the last time I was with my best friend during Covid.<img width="455" src="">His site is one I frequently visit. It lets me download videos from Youtube and Instagram, as well as Facebook which are a few of the platforms that I store the majority of my live streams. I am fascinated by politics and underground movements. So I film many live events, save some for the future, and publish some on Youtube. Each time I complete live, I back up the video into my laptop. This is how I do it. It lets me cross-post videos across multiple platforms. It allows me to share a YouTube? videos on Facebook but also upload the video on Facebook. Every video could be its own video. As it is, I have 3TB of live feeds I've done over the past 8 years. Periscope Lives aren't going out of fashion.. It's helped me tremendously.It works like a charm. After opening the video I'd like to watch, I copy its URL via the sharing link. Then, I go to the site for video downloaders, paste the video link there, and in a matter of seconds I'll see a variety of options to download video. I can download it to my desktop or laptop, copy it across platforms, and save it for my loved ones. Some sites are not able to help with Periscope but this one does well, it can manage m3u8 files that other websites usually download for you.. They work however, and I'm not saying that they aren't but they're actually based on fragments from online video feeds, so playing this file in VLC while it's fantastic, isn't really achieving the goal as the video isn't on your machine but it's on the internet and streaming from the internet when the player loads small fragments of video 1 at a time...If you're not aware of this, windows can use the copy command to assist you join these fragments to create a regular 1 long video file. This happens because of the video format Mpeg TS (or transport stream) that is used to create the video fragments. The stream contains all the details needed to decode every fragment. They are independent of each other, allowing each newcomer to stream seamlessly. It also keeps data off the browser as it downloads files of 360x10 seconds instead of the standard 1hr file. That means that if you watch only 25 seconds of the stream it will download only 4-6 fragments. (It will download 3-4 fragments from the current 25 second period, plus 1 or 2 additional fragments should you keep watching the stream). This significantly reduces the amount of data required to watch the stream for 25 seconds.
