My personal story isn’t too huge. I was born in America, went to school and worked before I got my first job online. It also contains some very challenging moments that made me think that all was done. One of those moments was when my home computer went silent... However, after a little tweaking and moving my old hard drive to the new one and installing a new desktop, I was able restore all the work stored on the drive. It took three days of sweating, literally crying... I've learned one thing. It is possible to automate or manually backup my entire day's work with Dropbox and my personal ftp servers so nothing can ever be lost.Of course it's not the ideal solution.. The more data you store on the internet, the more money is required to keep it all on the internet. It's a simple and secure process. It is also easily accessible and can be downloaded from any location with internet access. What happens where WiFi? or another internet connection is not available? It is very comforting to have my laptop with me at all times because it serves as my backup option last resort. There are two drives connected as a RAID stack so they copy each other and ensure that a copy remains if 1 of the 2 HDDs fails. Since I don't often copy the contents of the laptop, I have made it so that the two drives don't get separated at the same time.My other great day of sadness happened couple of years ago. I make sure not to lose my work. Like I said above, I now have multiple copies of it and am able to access it from wherever the internet is accessible. This was Periscope. I used it a lot times in the past. I even conducted live streams during the Riots last summer in 2020. Periscope TV has now been shut down, and all videos are scheduled to disappear in the next few weeks. What should I do? The entire video must be downloaded onto my laptop in order to save them offline. Those videos are very significant for me. I was there with my friend when he disappeared from the radars of Covid. It seems like it was just a matter of time.It's a website I utilize to download videos from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook as well as other websites. I'm interested in politics as well as underground movements so I take a lot of videos of live events and save them for later use. I then upload them to my Youtube channel and save it onto my computer. This is the way I do it. This lets me cross-posting videos across multiple platforms. Not only can I post Youtube videos on Facebook and Twitter, but I can also upload that video directly to Facebook. It's a separate video. And so it happens that I am now able to upload 3TB of live feeds I've conducted over the past eight years. And I am not losing my Periscope lives.. After that I visit the video downloader site. After copying the URL, I click the big button. In moments, I am presented with a variety of choices to save the video on my desktop or laptop. to share it on various platforms, and to keep it safe for friends and family. Periscope can't be available on every website. However, this one is.If you weren't aware, you can actually make windows copy commands that allow you to combine these fragments and create a normal one-long video file. This is due to MpegTS, the format for video, used to break the video into fragments. Also called transport stream. It includes all the information required for decoding video in each fragment which makes them distinct from the stream in itself so that each new user can begin streaming seamlessly. The browser can also save information because it only downloads the documents which are relevant to what you're watching. For instance, if you only view only 25 seconds of the stream the player will download just 3-4 fragments. Additionally, it may download the next 1-2 fragments.
