My personal story isn't filled with a lot of depth. I was born, went through school, got a job, and then finally found some information online. However, it does include certain traumatic events that made me believed that my life was over. One of those moments was when my computer in my home suddenly stopped working. After some tweaking, installing new desktops and shifting the hard drive from one to the other, I was finally able to restore all the files stored on the drive. It took me three days of sweat and metaphorical tears... However, I discovered one important thing: Dropbox and personal FTP servers can be used to backup my daily tasks automatically and manually.<img width="403" src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/2n6qpXQYBc4/maxresdefault.jpg"> https://www.gatesofantares.com/players/libralight87/activity/1766524/ It's certainly not the best solution.. The more information you store on the internet, the more it will cost to keep everything online. It's easy and seems quite safe. Also, it's accessible, can be downloaded from anywhere there's internet access. What is the consequence if WiFi? or an internet connection is unavailable? I find it very comforting to have my laptop with me at all times because it serves as my last option for backups. I have two drives each one with an RAID stack. They copy each others and ensure that there is at least one copy if one of the HDDs fails. Since I don't do a lot of copying, the laptop rarely works. This is the reason I hope that not 2 drives will fail at the same time. The other day of my life of deep sorrow came a few weeks ago. I do my best to not lose any work. As I mentioned, I have backup copies of it many times. It's also accessible on the internet whenever connectivity is available. It was different this time, it was about Periscope. It was a tool I often used few years in the past, and even during the riots of 2020, I did several live streams. However, Periscope TV suddenly closed, and all videos are expected to disappear in a few weeks. What can I do? I need all the videos to be downloaded so that they can be stored off-line on my laptop. These are dear to me. This is the last time we had a night out with my friend. His site is one I frequently visit. It lets me download videos from Youtube and Instagram, as well as Facebook which are a few of the places where I keep most of my live streams. I am passionate about politics and underground movements. This is why I record many live events to save them, then upload some on my Youtube channel, then backup it on my laptop each time it ends. This is just how I am. Additionally, it lets me cross-post videos to various platforms. It's not just to post YouTube? videos on Facebook, but also upload the video onto Facebook and make it an original video of its own. In actuality I am able to store more than 3TB live feeds from the last 8 years. Periscope lives don't disappear.. I find this website extremely useful. It's perfect. When I open the video I'd like to watch I copy the URL via the sharing link. After that I go to the website for video downloads, copy the URL and hit the big button. In just a few minutes, I am presented with a variety of options to download videos. Not every site can help with Periscope but this one is a good choice, it is able to handle m3u8 files that other sites usually download for you.. These are useful, don't get me wrong however, they're actually using fragments of online video feeds and playing the video within VLC while works great, doesn't actually accomplish the task - video is not on your machine It's online and playing from the Internet when the player loads the short fragments one by one... http://cqms.skku.edu/b/lecture/867644 If you were unaware that you could actually create windows copy commands to help you put such fragments together and create a standard 1 long video file. It's because of MpegTS the format used for video that is used to split the video fragments. Also called transport stream. The format used to create the fragments is Mpeg TS. It permits new users to stream from the middle of the stream without interruption. The browser also protects information by downloading 360 x 10 second videos. It downloads only the streams that you are watching. The player will receive 3-4 fragments of the 25-second stretch and the 1-2 fragments that follow in case it continues to watch the stream. This greatly reduces the total amount of data required to stream the stream for 25 seconds.
