It’s weird; I have been AWOL from blogging myself over the last couple weeks due to the demands of real life, which just happen to have been in conjunction with Jim’s passing. The events of the last couple weeks have made me reflect more about my presence online and although I have made some good friends through blogging, sometimes the online world and the real world dont mix well. My two cents: face to face is always better than FaceBook?. But not always achievable. Like my BFF who also Blogs about life in his beach community on the east cost. His visit two years ago to our Marvelous Marin was stellar, but we use chat and cell phones and Skyppe to keep in touch. His wife emailed me a year after his visit to let me know he had massive heart attacks and was hospitalized. This story has a happy (non-ending)result: he’s now running 15 miles several times weekly. He’s stopped blogging while he recovered but he’s back at it full tilt. He’s met a ton of people through it that he’d never have done otherwise. LOL, he’s also responsible for about 99% of my FB friends.
There is great value in human connection: sometimes easier when there is no face-to-face but probably not as deep. This new age pen-pal stuff has not had the final chapter written about it. Keep Blogging, Kat, you touch subject that most people don’t dare broach with each other due to social convention. We’re not all JK Rowling, but our voices are heard. Peace,
